The photo above shows seven women and me 3 years old, at Arvid's place in 1953. From the left you can see: Birgit Andersson, Greta “Kacka” Karlsson, Greta Andersson, Conny Andersson, one of Alice Johansson's daughters (name unknown), Margit Pettersson, Amanda Andersson and Augusta Andersson.
Greta Karlsson, always known as just “Kacka” was a friend of Margit Pettersson, Greta Andersson and Augusta Andersson. “Kacka” lived in Lidköping and she often visited us in Långö, and was counted as a member of our family. I remember one day, when she and Margit pedaled on their old bicycles from Lidköping to Långö and back again. That was to be pedaling circa 108 kilometers in one day!
The girl without a name in the photo above, is for sure one of Alice Johansson's daughters. Alice was one of Arvid's children in his first marriage with Anna (lastname Kylén as unmarried), the other child in that marriage was my mother Greta Andersson. As mentioned before, Anna died of TB in 1919 when my mother was 9 years old. Alice married Richard Johansson, and all of her 7 children got Richardson as their lastname. The contact between Alice's family and Långö has been sparse through the years, even when Arvid was alive.
These two photos show my childhood's grandmother Amanda Andersson at her 70th birthday in 1953. At her side sits her beloved husband Arvid Andersson, my grandfather. Arvid is at that time 69 years old, he was born in 1884.
Amanda and Arvid are relaxed and smiling in the photo above. I think they did not expect any photo to be taken at that moment. You can see a glimpse of this photo in the photo that was taken at Arvid's 75th birthday in 1959.
In this photo you can see Birgit and Sven Andersson standing behind Sven's parents. Sven was their only child and as an adult he had married Birgit.
